You can see this template is saying “Drawing - Create an annotated document”. I wish to know whether you can insert your own template. If so please show me the procedure.

Yes you can .... I have quite a few

2d IDW's and pre set up 3d files

There are a few ways ...

1) save it to the template folder location.

2) if you go to your save copy as ...you'll see a save as template option too

I am able to insert my template in INVENTOR. You can see I must give a location as well.

Save in where?

My template is in Desktop and file name Asheet. I gave following file path but it is not saved in Create New File window of the Inventor.

C:\Users\Maha\Desktop\Asheet

Thats the "Undo" location.. (read the field titles)

Look at the field below that.. Your templates are stored in your "documents/autodesk/inventor 2015/templates" folder

What I want to know is while retaining the standard templates whether it is possible to add my own drawing templates.

Yes but you need to use the Save As Template option, this will place it into your Template Folder. This location is controlled by your Application Options

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

You can also just look right at the top of the new file dialog to see where your templates are located.

Thats where you need to save any new templates..

Why would you want to do something like that. Each time you click on the template it will open another instance of Inventor. Forget the Desktop!!!!!

1.) OPEN INVENTOR FROM THE ICON

2.) MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PROJECT FILE IS CORRECT

3.) OPEN YOUR FILES THROUGH INVENTOR, EITHER EXISTING OR START NEW!

As I said earlier ...YES YOU CAN  ... you can save them to the template folder like we've all been explaining.  I have several types of each depending on what I'm doing. I have premade templates for angles, roud bar etc ...
