Create .dwg from .ipt for use with ProNest

I am having trouble creating a .dwg from my sheet metal .ipt files that is able to be used by ProNest.  It looks like ProNest is not recognizing any geometry from the .dwg file tha I created due to incorrect layer settings.

My process is as follows:

1. Create sheet metal .ipt and save.

2. Right click part in browser and "create drawing views"

3. Arrange 3-view drawing and save as .dwg.

4. Open in ProNest (getting error about layer settings)

Simply put, I'd like to save an .ipt file as a .dwg so that the layer settings are editable (able to set all entities to Layer 0 so that ProNest will see the geometry).  When I open the .dwg in AutoCAD or Inventor, I am not able to edit any of the existing drawing entities.

Hi lsheely,

You can try this as well.

  1. Create sheet metal *.ipt and save.
  2. Create *.dwg with views as needed.
  3. In the drawing file right click on the flat pattern view and choose Insert in Model Space.

A block of the flat pattern will be placed in model space on layer 0.

To change the model space base point:

  1. Activate Model Space.
  2. On the ribbon, click Review tab >  Create panel > Define New Base Point
  3. In the graphics window select the base point location

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
