Need help to sketch

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

Maybe it's very simpel but I don't know how to start with the sketch. I have only made the bottom.

The Tips means: draw these two sketches on the top and extrude down

To information I use Inventor 2017.

Thanks in advance!

You can do it a few different ways

1) Make it how it would be machined, starting with a sq or rectangle block

2) Make it from the side profile of section A-A  and cut it as needed to make it look like the picture

3) Make the bottom, put a rectangle block extrusion on that and continue modeling

If it was me, I'd do 1, but I've been on Inventor and designing for a long time.. a newer person would start with 2 or 3

Just my opinion..

How did you determined the angles/slopes? Isn't there only two angles, 10 deg and 15 deg?

... and here's a slightly different way to tackle it.  Warning: everything is in one sketch, a practice I normally try to avoid and don't recommend, but this particular part seems to just beg for that approach!

@Anonymous , after viewing Sam's solution I realized that I made a mistake on one of the dimensions in my "solution".  I'll let you figure out which one.

The distance/dimension 17,5 you have measured is the little square. The one i have attached on my first post it is measured from the outside/the biggest square.

I have illustrated on the attached in this post.

Ok, that measurement was my bad Smiley Sad

For the parallel flange you could use  the Face Draft Feature or maybe a chamfer.

Really thanks for your help!

If I use draft what should the degree be?

As it has to be parallel to the oblique line it should be 10°. Maybe you have to delete the fillets 2 and 3 and recreate them.
