Converting Units

Hi, I imported a step file from a vendor and the units came in as inches and I need them in millimeters. But I don't need the values to convert, I need them to stay the same.

For example, I need 1000 inches to change to 1000 mm, not 25400mm which is what it's doing when I change the document settings.

Is this possible?

Hi

A dimension in any unit defines the size of a feature.

It's not just a number - it's a definition of the actual size.

If you want to change the size, you can use the scale command in Direct edit.

When you did the import, did you change the units or did you leave it "Source Units"? Is it a part, or did it give you an assembly? IF left as source you can just change the document units to see either inches or mm..

Try going into "Tools/Document/Units" and change your preferred dimension format.

It's an assembly. When I imported it, that box for units is grayed out. Any way to fix that?

Here's how it looks. that 2000 inches measurement should be 2000mm.

I tried this, it converts the 1000in to 25800mm which I don't want.

Have you considered creating a multi-body derived part? You can set the import scale there.
