Converting 3d cut in cone to correct perpendicular flat pattern shape

I need to create slots in conical shape model. I have used sculpt command to transfer the intersecting part 3d contour into conic part and as intersecting part does not protrude conical part, then further on I have used thicken command to create penetrating cutout. 

 

As created feature has complex 3d shape (profile of intersecting part has a radius and material cutout is done in conical part) , then creating flat pattern the cutouts are not perpendicular with flat pattern surface (attached picture).

 

Please advise what workflow is suitable for achieving perpendicularity. Further on it needs to be adoptable with parametric design so probably plain sketch creating solution would not help.

 

PS Somehow when using delete face command for cotuot adapting the ability of part to be flattend disapears.

Hi 

 

May be the sheet metal unfold feature may help you like the attached example. The trick was add a flat small face to unfold.

The problem is that i need to derive contour form mentioned intersecting part and based on that contour create a cutout, which i perpendicular with flat pattern.

 

In attached model it can be seen that I have used sculpt command to derive necessary contour and used thicken for total sheet metal penetration, but the problem is that this cutout is not perpendicular with flat pattern. 

 

This solution should fit with ilogic implementation, If I just draw a sketch and cut unnecessary material out, then I think it cannot be used for ilogic implementation.

There is a much easier and correct way to model this. 

Keep watching this thread and someone will post example.

 

I see numerous issues that I would change right from the start.

Sketch1 is not fully defined.

What is the purpose of Work Axis1?

Try to use "cut across bend".

Depends on how you model the cone, it may not work.

Also try other options in the cut.

Sometime its easier to edit the cut in flat pattern.

1. See if Attached will work for your needs.

2. I did not take the time to set up Parameters, but I see no logical hinderance to that effort.

 

3. See the - Check This - sketch in the Flat Pattern.  If this is not acceptable then another technique will have to be developed (I have a couple of ideas, but need to get some other work completed).
