Control spline length

hi. I am modeling a cable; its 4.5m long and i wish to create a 1:1 drawing of the cable assembly.

I have been playing round with 3D interpolation splines. I can set the length, but i'm having a tough time getting on the A0 paper. Every time I move a point, the whole line moves (obviously, as the length is set).

I've sketched a rectangle of 841 x 1189 mm to give the A0 paper size and I'm desperately trying to get the spline to fit inside, but so far I've not been doing very well.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Have you thought about creating planes at said points then on those planes create sketch points to dimension where you need them and run the spline between these said points?

how would that work with interpolation splines?

If you have calculated points, meaning X and Y coordinates, you can place the points at these locations from a defined 0,0 point.  Then drawing your spline curve through them.
