Content Center Part's User Parameter Does Not Update

Hello All,

This is a long time problem.

Just haven't had time to sniff it out until today, and I just can't figure it out.

Maybe someone in here can help?

Here's the deal:

I created a User Library from the out-of-the-box library parts.
In this case, the parts are pipe.

I added my own User Parameters for use in the BOM/Parts List.

For example, I added "G_D_Nom" for Nominal Diameter of pipes.

When manually placing the part from the C/C all Parameters are good.

But when I use the Frame Generator, the "G_D_Nom" Parameter always defaults to the size of the first part in the Family Table.

I wouldn't mind the problem if there was a 'quick fix' in the BOM, but I have not figured out a 'quick fix' using the BOM.

Does anybody have any ideas why that happens and how to fix it?

Does anybody know a quick fix for this problem using the BOM or some other tool?

Thanx

So, what is "Suppress Link" when I right click on the category in the content center. I realize that's why I don't have "the 3 dots". The way I copied those families was to go to the default ones and right click -> copy to -> "My custom content center" But then they all have the chain link thing 🙂 Is that not the best way? To what does it link it to anyways? Thanks!

The link keeps them in sync with the default ones. Problem is, if you
change any of the cells, when you upgrade to 2023 it deletes half of your
custom stuff so it's always best to remove the link.

Oh, ok, thanks! It seems that if I "Save Copy As" I can choose Link or Independent. But I created them via "Copy To..." and that doesn't seem to have those options, so by default they were linked.

Don't mean to bump this post. But I have this same problem. I have added a new parameter to the model and added the corresponding column in the table. So I went to the parameter mapping and the 3 dots are missing. So I can't link the column to parameter. I read/write access to the library according to the project file, and I copied the CC part from another library and heavily modified it already with no issues.

Just checking that you replaced the family template after you added the parameters to the model? If so, is the part vaulted? If not, do you have the Application Options > Content Center Tab > Refresh out of date standards checked? If not, this is good to do as when you place, it will look to see if the local is out of date. If this is not checked, it will just use what is local and not rebuild unless you run the refresh command in the assembly to force a refresh. It will always use what is local first.

I think I know the problem... Its because when I copied it, I had it linked to the other library part, and because of that link, it will not allow me to add new parameters. When I go back to the original content center family, I can see the 3 dots to link the parameters.
