hello all,

there's a challenge I am actually struggling with

I believe the solution is simple as hell but I still did not figure out how to do that

ok , here's the thing:

1) mech.jpg - fragment of mechanism (I took this picture from google patents library), just to clarify what I am describing

2) mech2.jpg & r_s.ipt - sketch issue: i got already stuck with scissors - how to "tell" inventor that slot is a closed loop and it shall guide green lines all over this slot ??

3) mech3.jpg - assembly, similar issue: how to "tell" inventor that I want to guide something the way it is presented by a green line? when I choose tangent (left view) it will not go straight up after reaching quadrant

thank you for help

missed sketch added, making block also does not help

HI marcin.blaszczyk,

I think you'll need to create your triangle as a Sketch Block and your slot as a sketch block and then use the Make Component tool to write out the blocks as parts as a layout assembly, where you can apply constraints. See this link:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-0BFE6FE8-961C-43A1-A533-B9E02F781826

As for the assembly, you'll use a Transitional constraint:. See this link:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-EDE88086-58F3-4F62-A1CC-83CDB035BC27

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

very useful tip thanks, it will help me with assembly issue

but there is no way to play with constraints only in sketch mode?....

I mean I want only to simulate basics of movement in this sketch, nothing more

Hi marcin.blaszczyk ,

I think the Sketch Blocks and Make Components tool are the only way that Autodesk has given us to do this with 2D geometry in Inventor. Keep in mind that it does convert sketch constraints into kinematic constraints.

But I've never had much luck with this workflow. Although I've not spent much time exploring it.
