Changing Model States in Frame Generator designs

I'm wondering if anyone has gone as far as using model states to derive Frame Generator "skeleton parts". When I try , Everything seems to work when linking up the respective states within the sub-assembly level. But any attempt to change the subassemblies within a parent assembly doesnt update the (system generated) frame generator assembly. I've had this issue everytime I've tried this workflow. Is it a limitation of model states when working with Frame Generator Assemblies?
