Cant Edit Part In Assembly

I am having trouble with a large assembly. I am working with a part in an assembly to set reference points for my sketch and then typically I will open the part file individually to finish features and constraints in the part etc. Sometimes an edit is needed to be made after the features are added and I find situations where I am forced to edit a part in an assembly. I know I am unable to do that with the part file open so I close it but am still unable to edit? only when I close and reopen the assembly file can I edit the part. I have loaded the full assembly but still routinely get these errors. Any parts that are opened individually for checks or w.e. can then not be opened in the assembly unless that assembly is reopened. this is really cumbersome and time consuming when making custom fit parts. Please help, I am sure this is most likely a setting somewhere I cant find.

Thanks,

Kevin

@k.mccathie

Hello!  After you close the opened part, and return to the assembly, do you perform an update or rebuild on the assembly?  It may be as simple as the part not being up to date in the context of the assembly?

Is there any version of Vault involved in this process?

Hey There,

I have tried to update and save and neither seem to have effect, either or both.

Thanks

Further testing and investigation found that it is only the parts with multiple model states that are unable to be edited; even if I reset the representation, I cannot edit these parts. In some cases all parts are available for edit until one part is opened and then all with multi states cannot be opened; this doesn't happen every time but a fair amount. It seems like this may be a known issue for some time now,

but the resolution to close/open inventor every time is way too counterproductive.

Hi! Please take a look at the following thread and my latest reply.

In short, the limitation is work-in-progress. We are targeting to remove such limitation in the coming 2023.1 update.

Many thanks!
