Cannot edit segment work points

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have Inventor Professional 2019, and I'm using the Cable/Harness add-in.

I have designed an assembly that includes several wire routing segments. I had been able to edit the work points in the segments just fine but, without explanation, suddenly I could no longer edit the work points. Right-clicking does not bring up the menu as before. I cannot 3D move points, add points, or do anything I could before.

How can I get around this issue? Have I unknowingly unchecked some viewing option disabling this ability? I tried making sure the "3D Sketches" box was checked under the "Object Visibility" checklist in the "View" ribbon tab. It was already checked. Unchecking it and rechecking it hasn't helped.

HI @Anonymous,

Take a look at my screencast. Am I doing anything different to you?

Cheers

Jon.

The harness "assembly" is set to edit when it looks like this

marcuseriksson7F2FD_2-1647271446639.png

If i try to set the harness "part" to edit then I get this message.

Hi! Is the harness subassembly originally created within the context of the assembly? If yes, this sounds like a corruption bug, meaning the assembly cannot find the source geometry. If the harness is repurposed from another assembly, this behavior is as designed. It is because the harness is editable only within the assembly it was originally created from.

Many thanks!

I tried making a new assembly with two of the same connectors and a harness and i still does not work.

After that i tried to restarting inventor and suddely it works! So the problem was obviusly a bug in the program preventing it from entering edit mode for all harnesses, new and old.
