Cannot attach Balloon Arrow

When my drawing is open for some time (1 hour), I cannot attach balloon arrow to any edge after move arrowhead. The solution is closing and opening drawing, but it is annoying and takes time.

Have a look if the Selection Priority is set to something different but the edge.

Cheers,

Igor.

Your selection filter is set to part priority and not edge...

Hi! I am not aware of an issue like this. Something seems wrong. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. And the applicable Inventor updates are installed.

If it still does not help, try adding the following environment variable to force Inventor to load all dlls on start up.

Go to Windows Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> create "DYNAMIC_LOAD_APPLETS" and set it to 1. Restart Inventor. Does it work better then?

Many thanks!

Hi @pawelzdon

I have seen this before in 2019, 2020 and 2022 but just assumed it is how the software works. The leader looses the ability to be reattached. I normally just recreate the balloon. I didn't know a save, close and reopen would solve it.

Adjusting the leader attachment location is a common practice and is more important to be able to do so if you have multiple balloons attach to the first balloon. If you can't attach the first one then you have to start from scratch. I would assume this is a bug and can be solved and backdated to other versions.

Hi @pawelzdon

In further testing this occurs due to part selection filter being active. Perhaps the designers can change this functionality so that if the leader gets selected the edge priority filter will be enabled automatically on events otherwise you have to back out of this operation and change the filter which isn't productive. One for the idea station I believe.

I'm a bit confused, maybe I actually had the selection filter set to part priority.
