Can't make a shell

Hello,

I try to duplicate an existing file and make some adjustments to it.

But for some reason I can't get a shell in the object. ( I never worked with it)

I'm using Inventor 2002. STOCKBASE_DU is the orignal file.

Does anyone know how it can be done?

Or maybe a better question, what I did wrong.

Best regards.

The attempt to remodel the part is poor quality (unconstrained sketches) and order of operations are incorrect. (Shell should be done early for this design.)

Is this a school project?

You should model only the two ducts first and Shell those before adding any other features.

You should fully define your sketches and make use of obvious symmetry about the origin.

Hi! I think the modeling challenge starts from the beginning. I believe you are remodeling a part based on mesh. When you do that, you need to simplify the geometry to the ones that carry design intent. You have done that for other areas except the center lower area (clamps). Those tiny line segments do not represent any design intent or parametric relationship. You should delete them and replace with two arcs.

I am sure after you do that, the part can be shelled easily.

Many thanks!
