build a contoured part in assembly file

I have an assembly of 4 ilogic parts.  The assembly configures itself well but, I can't seem to figure out how to build a flange to adapt to the assembly.  We recently switched from SolidWorks and it is easy to do there.  Now in Inventor 2020, I just can't get the part to work and configure to the shape of the assembly.

What I would like to do is to bring the upper flange into the assembly and have it contour to the top of the assembly.

I've tried making the part in the assembly, using a sketch and sweeping the it along the top of the assembly.  This almost works, but it will not allow making a solid part.  It only allows cuts.

Is there any way for this to be done?  I took a couple screen shots to show what I'm trying to do.

Hi! In Inventor you will need to use Adaptive workflows (sketch-based via 2D Sketch or body-based via Copy Objects). Please share an example you are working on. Forum experts can help take a look and provide the guidance.

Many thanks!

Here's the assembly I'm working on.  The 168XXX part is the one I'm trying to configure.

Sorry about that.  Second try.  It's been a rough morning.

You can use the copy object command inside of your top flange to pull in the bodies of the lower components. This will create an adaptive part based on the lower parts as @johnsonshiue  had mentioned. In your base sketch you can project the top critical edges and use those to constrain you base sketch to and when the bodies update, so does your flange.

So do an in-place edit of the top flange, expand modify panel and choose copy object. Select he bodies of interest. You will have to feature reorder and then you can edit your base sketch.

Hope that helps.
