BUG - Inventor Causing a Cyclical Dependency by Consuming Sketch

By changing a Contour Flange input to a linked parameter it causes the feature to consume the defining sketch without sharing. This causes a cyclical dependency and corrupts the browser.

I had this happen on another sheet metal master part, but I didn't notice right away and it wasn't until I tried to move the EOP marker that I found out about the cyclical dependency, and even then it wasn't clear what cause it. I ended up losing a lot of work by needing to start over on the features below the problem.

Please fix!

That explains when you want to share with features not another sketch and this is what I am trying to explain to you.

It is a bug just not the bug you think it is.

Only way you will get it to work is wait a few months to see if they can make it work or put your contour flange between sketches 16 and 17.

 Those are your options.

You may hate me but you know I am 100% correct.

Wish you all a good Thanksgiving.

Sorry bud, you're 0% correct.

I fixed this a few minutes before posting the bug. I was simply exposing the bug, not trying to get it to work.

Try again, you must not have edit the feature again, and that is what creates your issue.

I don't need to edit it. It's good. It's what I want.

If you can show me any other type of feature consuming a shared sketch I'll mark your first reply as the answer.

So you rather have issues then put the feature where it needs to be?

Don't let your hate for me corrupt your file.

It's not corrupt. As long as I don't edit that feature (which I don't need to) it works as it should.

Worry not, I'm not changing anything on account of your input.

You can learn a lot from my input.

I will leave you to your hate.

Hello Guys!

I am not aware of this thread could be HOT like this!!!

Here is a quick update from Development team which indicated this one is indeed a problem and able to fix in short.

The problem is with browser collectors and sketch consumption, the first call removes the shared flag, so the second one thinks the sketch was not shared (even if it was), so it moves the browser node right before the feature. Which is the problem here, that's why the feature consumer is complaining about sketch being moved.

Sorry for the inconvenience here, and a quick call - can either of you tell me how urgent of the fix to deliver? In other words, are you expect to fix it within 2019 updates?

Hope it helps!

Hey @Xun.Zhang,

Since it is causing parts to become corrupt I would say it's worth adding to the 2019 fixes.
