Select all the dimensions and use the Arrange Dimensions selection in the right click menu. Then they all move at once and the leaders modify themselves.
I would use Ordinate Dimension Set tool instead. Adjusting the position of the first member of the set moves all the others, too.

Thanks for the help everyone, I did not understand the difference between ordinate and ordinate sets since the original command seemed to do what I needed, also arrange dimensions wasn't something I ever saw as I don't think I had used right click during ordinate creation.
Finally, a friend dropped by and he said, if you move your cursor closer to the ordinate origin indicator, the behavior where you have to make extraordinarily long extension lines to get the dims to "pop out," is mitigated.
