Automatically Update Presentation File Snapshots?

All,

Good afternoon!  My apologies if this has been asked before, but I just couldn't find the information I was looking for.  I know how the Inventor Presentation file works and I don't have a problem, per se, but I would like to know if there's a setting for automatically updating snap shot views.  I really don't want to keep clicking on the little blue or green refresh circles on the snapshots to get them to update.  Please let me know if there's anything I can do to make that any more automatic and let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks in advance for any advice, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

Please give a kudos if helpful and mark as a solution if somehow I got it right.

Possibly you might able to use iLogic for a "timed" refresh. The idea behind the snap-shot is to "freeze" the view for use with drawings. The current workflow allows you to explode your assembly to the level you want and then position the model view and create the snap-shot. You can then rotate the model to achieve a different view and create another snap-shot. You can have multiply snap-shots within the IPN environment for use downstream in drawings.

It does seem dump to need to refresh to get an updated view. You could ask for an "Enhancement" on the "Inventor Ideas" to have an option for always update the snap shot but this would wipe any other snap-shot views.

How do I get my snapshots NOT TO UPDATE. My beautiful step-by-step instruction snapshots are in the browser but I cannot use them because they'll update and not give me what I wanted. No easy answers to be found on this subject - anywhere.

They will only update when you select/clip the "Green" Update icon. When you are creating your Views in the IDW drawing environment, you simple select which view from the Presentation file you wish to use.

blair,

I appreciate your response, but that doesn't work.  If I place view 1, 2 or 3,etc into my IDW it will automatically update and I won't get the UNupdated "snapshot" as shown in my snapshot view. -Greg

I'm seeing a different issue. I added an additional explosion view but when I select it my new Snapshot, it keeps displaying the first Snapshot.

I need to dive into this more, seems like a bug/issue.

For anyone who wants to update the snapshots of an IPN.

In fact, the API does not provide direct access to the button. However, you can do this with a workaround.

With API

- Open the IPN

- Activated the snapshot for editing

- Deaactivate the snapshot for editing

This will update the snapshot as well.

Public Sub UpdateSnapShots(oDoc As PresentationDocument)

'Scenen deklarieren
Dim oScenes As PresentationScenes = oDoc.Scenes
Dim oScene As PresentationScene = Nothing

'Durch jede Scene gehen
For Each oScene In oScenes

'Ansichten deklarieren
Dim oViews As PresentationSnapshotViews = oScene.SnapshotViews
Dim oView As PresentationSnapshotView

'Durch jede Ansicht gehen
For Each oView In oViews

'Die Ansicht öffnen und schließen (dadurch aktualisieren)
Call oView.Edit

InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()

Call oView.ExitEdit

Next

Next

End Sub
