Picking a nit:

"All inventor products, except for Inventor LT, no longer offers support for operating systems with 32-bit processors."

The bit-ness of the processor is irrelevant, its the operating system which counts.  You can install x32 Win7 on a computer with a 64-bit CPU.

It's like Autodesk read my letter to Santa.  Finally RapidRT in Studio.  I am seriously excited.

....and yet, Inventor STILL hasn't added my request for In-Stream modifiers for dimensions!

I've only been requesting this since release 3. I was even promised back in 2013 that it would be added within the next two releases....thus 2016 would be that promised release.....hmmm...not there. At least that was my impression.

It's nothing too difficult to add either, simply expand the dimension pop-up menu to include all the possible options/additions one typically would have in their dimensions. Make them as selectable check boxes, pull downs and/or input boxes for items like pre-fixed text, Feature Control Symbols, etc.

Again, CAD programs like CADDS5i had this ability back in the late 80's.

Yep, but by the time I get used to it being there again they'll have moved it somewhere else.  Maybe on the Environments tab next time?  😄

@Anonymous you should include a link to your ideastation post and convince people to vote for it.

Hey there Scott,

Actually I did, it landed as one of the top five if I recall, thus making it one of the future updates.

Maybe they hit a snag?

It's been about 3 yrs so it's a bit fuzzy, but I recall getting a notice about it.

Maybe I need to re-issue it to the Idea station and maybe create some makeshift screen shots of what I think it should look like???

Hi joflaherty,

I think this is the Idea Station idea that you referred to:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideastation/in-stream-modifiers-for-dimensions/idi-p/3789654

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

@jdits7 I have to ask this. Why don't you just post links to the Autodesk content on here, instead of the content you copy & paste into your blog posts? Google will punish your site's ranking due to duplicate content as well, so it's not helping  you. You also don't credit Autodesk. For more information about the requirements for using their content take a look at these FAQ's:

How do I attribute Autodesk learning content?

Can I repost or republish Autodesk learning content on my site or blog?

I've often found out about a new product update because you are letting everyone know, which is a good thing. But you should be writing your own content to do it, or just link/embed to the Autodesk content.

Thanks for letting me know. This is the first that anyone has ever mentioned this to me. I will take that into account for future posts.

@scottmoyse , I don't know if @jdits7 is doing it "correctly", but I will say that in the past, Jamie was often the first to post detailed information about the Inventor What's New. Often doing so many days before Autodesk published anything.

I've also referred to this page:

http://www.inventortopix.com/p/whats-new-docs.html

more times than I can count, because his information has stayed put so that I could find it years later, long after Autodesk had changed their content location and broken all of the bookmarks that I'd created. Smiley Frustrated

The last few years, Autodesk seems to be getting the information out sooner, but I still appreciate that Jamie has done it "his way", right or wrong, when I need to look up to see what release a new feature came out! Smiley Happy

In any case, I thank http://www.inventortopix.com and https://designandmotion.net/ for the efforts.

Also, just to tie the information together for future reference here are some related Autodesk Inventor 2016 What's New links:

/autodesk/attachments/autodesk/78/541522/1/Inventor%20Whats%20New%202016.pdf

I hope this helps.
