> Looking for some support on removing the auto-expand feature
I wish I had a nickel for every complaint I've
heard about he last time I took something out 😉
MicroSoft never did the auto-expand thing - but
then it showed up and we all thought it'd be cool, so it got added. I checked
this afternoon to see if we made the delay variable or accessible (or tied it to
a registry setting).
We didn't.
Its hard coded.
I suspect that the easiest thing to do would be to
make the pause value a variable and then expose the variable on one of the
options tabs - then you could just turn it off.
I'm not saying this is on anybody's list of things
to do.
I do know that there are still quite a few
organizational things that we'd like to do to the browsers. User-defined browser
folders is at the top of my list of favorites.
I would also REALLY like the ability to split the
browser in half (like Word does) to the top of the browser could be looking at
one place and the bottom could be someplace else. This would be helpful in cases
where you do a FIND OTHER HALF and the other half is halfway across the
galaxy.
Exporting the browser as text comes to
mind...
...as does a browser ZOOM function. I could imagine
a browser that might allow me to "zoom out" so that initially the text got
smaller (say decrementing my point size or something) until "leaf node" parts
"disappeared" and you were left looking a subassemblies, etc... Sort of a "level
of detail" behavior for the browser.
One of the projects being looked at is targeting
increased performance via evaluation of "levels of detail" of the parts of the
assembly. I suspect that as this project moves forward (along with others in the
planning stages) there will be browser changes.
When those happen - it would be good to have some
sort of "concensus" on the auto-expand pause thing.
