Assembly torus/ hollow cylinder

I am trying to use tangent constraint to make I'd and od of ring to intersect tapered walls. The tapered walls are cutout arc-slots.

Is this a Tangent assembly constraint

or

is this a Tangent sketch constraint?

If a Torus is involved, there is no single Tangency for Inventor to deal with and produce a solution for mating. A Cylinder has a single tangency which Inventor can solve.

 

You are going to need to add Work Planes, Work Axis and possibly Grounded Work Points on the Torus to use for mating.

Inventor 2016. See where I am trying to get the OD and the ID mated to the tapered walls of the arc slots.

I did widen my arc notches by.125 per Ø in the sketches on each arm.

The IAM file only contains a data-base of the file names used, their position within the IAM as well as the constraints. It doesn't contain any of the required IPT files.

 

Please upload all the ITP files that are used in the IAM file.

Let me know if I missed anything.  I ended up trying a mate instead of a tangential assembly.  It looks right but I could be off.

I guess the easiest is to use the Contact Set and manually bring the ring down to the notched rib until contact is made and Inventor limits the movement. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the ring and the bottom of the notched rib. Use a Flush constraint with the distance for the offset.

 

JD may have a more refined method.

Some of the part files were 2017, therefore an update to 2017 was needed.

Many undefined sketches were found, but most of them left.

Only IAM and Rack were updated and are added, other files can be used again.

So how do I use this feature? Is it under the movement tab in Assemble?  I am a novice at Inventor especially when it comes to assembly.  I have more experience using Solidworks and SolidEDGE.
