Assembly model states are not reflecting changes when activated

Hello to whomever stumbles across this. I am relatively new to Inventor and am having issues with model states in an assembly. In the main assembly are sub assemblies. These sub assemblies have field of view planes associated with them (for cameras and other sensors) that I would like to be able to toggle on and off easily. I created a new model state and in this new model state I hid each one of the field of view planes within the sub assemblies. However, this is not reflected when I activate other model states. For instance, my primary model state should have all field of view planes visible. When I activate (and am editing within) the new model state called "FOV Off" I selected each field of view plane within the sub assemblies and turned visibility off. When I activate my primary model state, all of the field of view planes are still off? I was under the assumption that any changes made when editing within a different model state would not effect the other model states. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to link the model states of subcomponents to your upper assembly's model states.

You can either manually change the top assembly model state and then pick the MS for subcomponents there to switch, or use the Productivity tool (after you toggle an MS from the main assembly > Assemble tab):

Hi! I guess you probably used SWX Configuration workflows before. Inventor's Model States, though similar to SWX Config, focus on parameter, component/feature suppression, and properties. The visibility has always been controlled by Design View Rep, not Model States. You will need to use Design View Rep to toggle the visibility.

Many thanks!
