Assembly Issue

Hi All,

I was modeling some frames (assembly) and from one day to another, it starts to ask me to resolve link when I try to open my assembly model - everything is on it's place and correct link, and I still can't open it. When I try to open the part, that was asked to resolve link, it opens the derived part dialog box. I Press "Ok" and it shows as it was imported already modeled (w/ notches and holes, etc) and I can't edit the machinings. Only solution is to open an older version of it - Old Versions fodler - and overwrite files. And one or two day after, it happens the same thing with the same parts.

The parts were modeled like this - section drawing in .dxf 2007 > opened a standard part drawing, new sketch and imported acad (section dxf drawing), save > open standard part drawing, derive part, choose the section inventor drawing, and start to model, save > Assembly, place, usual stuff.

Hope somebody can help me, it's taking a lot of tim€ from me.

Thank You,

Hi!

When you imported the sketch, you ended to create a new ipt. That ipt (it's only a sketch) is the guide to place the profiles. Maybe is that file that is missing, or outside the project folder.

Make sure that it is in the same folder as the assembly file.

Q1. Are you using Projects (*.ipj) or are you using Vault?

Q2. Can you attach the assembly here?

Hi,

from the moment that file was created, that .ipt (sketch only) remained on the same folder, same path as this was created, and all parts are on project folder.

I have a folder - Aluminum Profiles - where the inventor part file .ipt is, and inside that folder there's another one - Dies - where that .ipt (sketch only) file is.

Thank You,

Hi,

A1: I'm using Projects;

A2: as it's a company file/project, unfortunately, I can't.

Thank You,

Is the Aluminium Profiles folder within the project file search paths i.e. have you told Inventor where to look for these Aluminium profiles? I suspect you have the profiles folder outside of the project search paths which would explain why you get the error.

Can you take a screen shot of your project file settings and show the Workspace and Library Paths and also the path of the Aluminium Profiles folder?

Hi,

Yes, all the folders in use (Aluminum Profiles, etc etc) are within the project file search.

Yes, I have told Inventor where to look for it, and it doesn't accept it.

It worked for a few days right after I modeled it, and made the assembly drawing, but some days after, it started to run this error, and nothing was moved from the initial folders.

Thank You,

Hi! Is this G: drive a cloud drive? Also, are you working with users who are accessing the same files in newer Inventor? If possible, please share a set of files that require file resolution.

Many thanks!

Hi,

G: drive is Google Drive.

No, only I open and work on these files.

about the files, please see attached.

ROB-03PAA-F-001-001.ipt is the final profile;

ROB-03_Bottom-Transom.ipt is an only sketch file that I will derive on the first file.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the files! ROB-03_Bottom-Transom.ipt was last saved in 2020.4, while ROB-03PAA-F-001-001.ipt was last saved in 2021. Inventor does not allow older releases to open files saved in newer releases.

In your case, you will not be able to open ROB-03PAA-F-001-001.ipt in 2020.

Many Thanks!

Hi,

I modeled it with Inventor 2020 (only version I have installed), and at the office I'm the only one using this files.

@rcan_klpt

This is interesting.  I wonder how it happened?
