I am tinkering with the spur gear generator. I have the detail I need to generate a gear profile in Mechanical (n31, m2.5, pa20, ha33, rh (and w6=1.701)). This will give me the correct diameter look, ect of what I need...in Mechanical.
I wish to do the same in Inventor (old drawing refreshed) but Inventor has so many things which, for this case I either dont care or dont know; Things such as center distance; Unknown. Module; not present so I converted from DP ad filled in. Gear ratio; unkown.
Now before I get all the criticism about 'you need to know that stuff...' I will say that we are repair shop and do not get all the info on such things 95% of the time. We get a part similar to the one pictured below usually worn out or broken in someway. Customer: "Here, make a new one". I am sure many of you understand.
How can I achieve my desired results with the data I provided above and have my gear turn out correctly? Right now it is displaying aprox 1" on diameter undersize.

Inventor only creates gears in pairs, so make up (reasonable) stuff like center distance and ratio so that it will complete. Then discard the extra gear.
But be aware, the generated gear is a simplification - if you investigate the pair you will find interferrence.
I seem to recall that their is a way to retrieve the true spline curve (and then extrude it) but I never went all the way down that road. I just want to make sure you understand that the easy way will be a simplification.

There is a No Model option in the Gear2 drop down box that allows you design a single gear model. Also, here are some links that will help you get a more realistic profile as JDMather mentioned:
