I have a welded assembly. Some sheets show the entire weldment, or subsets of the assembly (design views) for clarity.

I want the last sheets to be for all the detail parts, individually detailed. If I drop the individual .ipt files, when I try to bubble them, they all want to be 1.

If I make a design view for each .ipt, the bubbles work, but I can't use the "Properties-Model" tools in the View Label formatting window, to point to some iProperty for the individual part. It also means a LOT of design views for a complex weldment.

What's the best practice to get the best of both worlds?

Inventor is not designed to do what you want.

I'd look at some custom iLogic code to push the assembly item number index down to the individual part iproperties.  This will only work if the parts are used in one-and-only-one assembly file.

Why not give each detail a unique part number property?  Then you can remove the assembly item number from your BOM and parts list.  Set your balloons to display the part number iprop, not the index number, and work like you want.
