Application Options

I'd like to get an overview of the correct or preferred method for saving and retrieving the Application Options changes if possible.

If I make a change to the Application Options where should I export the file to? Where does Inventor read it from?

You can export it to anywhere.

You select where it is when you import it back.

What are you wanting to do with it ..... ?

Share it and have other uses the same settings?  

Have a back up of it?

Your application options are user based information and stored in Windows registry under this section Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion<version #>\System\Preferences

As others pointed out, the export/import function of application options is only there to share (export/import) with others (or to have as backup of the information in-case you want to restore).

I have a much better understanding now. What you're saying is that as soon as I hit 'apply' those changes are saved to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion<version #>\System\Preferences and I don't need to do an export etc?
