Allowing some hidden lines to be visible.

Someone showed me this not that long ago, not having since having to use it, I forgot how he did it. Here is what I am trying to accomplish:

I have a long collar that I am using the break command on to shorten. It has a lot of hidden lines, I only want the hidden lines of this one groove to show. Instead of having to go and turn off every single hidden line except the one I want, isn't there a way to just select the ones I want on? If I remember correctly, he had me turn them all off, than using a different command/button, brought them back and I was able to select the ones I wanted, click ok, and the rest went away.

Thanks,

-Josh

or another opinion is if no hidden lines are shown and you want one part of some of one part

hidden.png

find the item you want some of the lines for ...and explain it ..

you'll end up with

hidden 2.PNG

if you get to many, pick the ones you don't want, RMB and click their visibility off

When I have a lot of hidden lines that I want to remove but are difficult to select because they are intermingled with object lines -

I first turn off the Visible line layer. Then I can window select or select or Ctrl select just the hidden lines I want to remove.  Then turn the Visible layer back on.  If there is a missing hidden line that I want to retrieve, right click on the view and show them, you can pick only the missing line(s) you want back.

See pg 25 in attached Tips and Tricks document.

Thanks all, Mcgyver's was actually what I was looking for though. I didn't want to have to cntrl+pick each line to hide/show visibility.
