AI 2012 Failed to launch Excel 2010

Here is what im running

OS: Windows 7 x64

Autodesk software: Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium 2012

Microsoft software: MS Office 2010 Starter which includes Word & Excel ONLY.

Error message from Inventor when trying to open an Ipart :

"Excel installation is required for this operation. Failed to launch Excel."

FYI.. this solution doesn't work  http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS14079866 because I

don't have this registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

no mention if you did this...

Have you started up Excel at all since it was installed?  It has to be started at least once so that you accept the license agreement IRC.

That is the #1 answer/solution to this type of issue, at least with the full blown MS Office suite.

Yes. I've opened and saved documents and spreadsheets in both Word & Excel

but I don't remember accepting the license agreement. I guess I must have???

In my search to find the answer for something completely different I found the answer to this dilemma.

Apparently you can't use MS Office starter with Inventor.
