After advice on home work station

Hi

After a budget workstation solution for home, just enough so i can dabble in my spare time and do small projects for myself. i’ve come across this particular computer on ebay and i gave the seller the minimum requirements for inventor and he recommended this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/332224282571

how does it look? if you look in the description there is upgrades available should i get any of them? please keep in mind that my budget won’t allow for much more.

Thanks

Joe

The eBay page doesn't work.

I use Dell E7240 laptop for Inventor and Solidworks.

i7-4600U 2.8GHz 16GB RAM 1TB SSD Intel Graphic 4400.

Your link had a few extra characters in it; here's the correct one: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/332224282571

I think this machine will do nicely for you, given what you've described.  The only thing I'm uncertain about is the video card, but that's because I'm unfamiliar with it.  Onboard video always raises the caution flag, but it may be just fine.  You can always upgrade later if you decide you want something different.

It has a nice quick processor, enough memory for small projects and a solid state drive-- I think you're good to go.

My own home computer is six years old, slower processor, same amount of memory, six year-old consumer-grade graphics, and it runs Inventor 2020 just fine.  Don't let anyone stampede you into spending more money, unless the video turns out to be a problem.

Honestly, I'd start with their default on-board video.  I just looked at the specs on my video card: Radeon HD 5670 w/512 MB GRAM.  It's pitiful in comparison to what they're offering you, and it works with Inventor, no problems that I've noticed.

The great thing about video is that it's relatively painless to upgrade in the future, assuming you have a motherboard slot available.

They did not specify which motherboard they use, unless you upgrade.

They did not give you an recommendation, they just show you their basic computer.
