Adding Spur Gear to Part

I have a question and I would appreciate any suggestions.

I created a cylinder as a part (.ipt). In a separate assembly file I created a spur gear and added a hole to it.
The idea is to have the spur gear around the cylinder and I am able to do that in the assembly by adding the cylinder part to it. But the prototyping companies expect the file in the .stl format which I can only get for a part but not when publishing an assembly. So is there a way I can create the spur gear/cylinder combination as a single part rather than an assembly? Will appreciate help.

Thanks.

Good morning,

Try using Derived Components (See help for details)

In case you don't know how

1- Save you assembly
2-Open a new part
3-Press Return and delete Sketch1
4-Press on the Derived Components Icon
5-Browse to Your assembly and insert it
6-Save your part (You can break the link to your original assembly if you do not want your part to update with the assembly)

And Voila, now you can export to Stl.

Cheers,

Thank you so much. That did it for me.
