Adding Label to Drawing View

Hi,

I am trying to find a way of adding a Label to an existing drawing view.

It was an ISO view, so initially the label was deleted. Now I need to convert it to FRONT VIEW (for example), but cannot find the option of adding a view label. I don't want to recreate the view, since many dimensions and other notes were added to this view.

To make it more clear, this is how it is done in SW:

1. Right-click in the drawing view and click Add View Label.
2. Customize Label.
3. DONE.

Where is the option hidden?

Hello!

Simply double click the view and you should get the Drawing View dialog box, in which you can set or change the View Label.  Note the light bulb next to the label, that is the On/Off toggle for the view label.

Another question:

How do you link drawing View Label to the model views?

For example, if there is a LEFT view on the assembly (on the cube)

The drawing will still be "FRONT VIEW" or "VIEW".

Hello 0x3FA5,

To change the content of the view label click the button next to the one you used to turn the view label back on as seen in the image that CGBenner posted.  This will open the Format Text dialog.  Here you can type in whatever you want the view to say.

In my example, the text field was blank; I set 1 and 2 then clicked 3 to produce 4 - "<VIEW>".  Any text in the Drawing View dialog's label text box will now show up in the <VIEW> placeholder once you close both dialog boxes.  I hope that helps you out.

Hi! To choose the default base view direction, it is either by facing one of the origin planes or the Front on the model. In the drawing, go to Manage -> Styles and Standards -> select the active standard -> View Preference -> Front View Plane.

It looks like you skipped some steps, can you please go in a little bit details?

It is really annoying to go in and change the names of the views manually, this supposed to be grabbed automatically from the model.

Was this ever addressed or did you find a solution to only getting the numbers? I am baffled by the fact that I can not find any information regarding this issue anywhere in the forums. The views should automatically be labeled Front, Top, Right, Left, or Bottom.
