Adaptive reference sketches

Anonymous
Not applicable

In the past I have projected geometry from parts in an assembly onto a plane to make a reference sketch. This is a great analytical tool. When I change positions of the parts the reference sketch doesn't update. Is it possible to have this reference sketch be adaptive. I believe that I used to do this in the past. I'm now using Inventor 2017.

Hi! There are two things to check. First, go to Tools -> Application Options -> Assembly -> "In-Place Features" are the two check boxes under "Cross part geometry projection" checked? Second, it depends on where the sketch is at. Is it an assembly sketch? If yes, adaptive is not available in assembly sketch. If it is shared part level sketch, it is currently not adaptable because it can cause interruption to feature compute order.

Many thanks!
