If you have the holes allready created, then select placement by hole, and not concentric.

after selecting the first hole you get an option te select a pattern checkbox, check that

Thanks for helping me.

If I select placement by hole than it's not possibal selecting a hole.
The holes are allready created, so I still have a problem.

I made a screencast.

the problem is that the holes are not created with the hole feature, but with an extrusion of a circle.

make the holes with the hole feature and it will work

The same problem occured when I want to do this with Clevis Pin even when I make the the holes with the hole feature.
Is there a solution for this problem.

Accepted solution

Hi Hans,

I think I know what you want. I believe you have a hole feature and a pattern of the hole, right. The workflow is not intuitive. Here is what you need to do. 1) BoltConn -> By Hole -> pick the main hole.

2) Check "Follow Pattern" -> Ok.

The BoltConns will be created.

Could you take a look and see if it works for you?

Many thanks!

why this is not working for the clevis pin I don't know, Autodesk has to do something there, maybe because most of the time you will be placing only one? at a time??

but oke, if you want to place multiple, place them directly from the content center

- assemble, place from content center

- turn on Auto drop

- select your pin

- select the hole, (because of the autodrop, the size is adapted)

- now you get the option to do this for the other holes as well, so place multiple

Hi Hans and Herm,

Indeed, the workflow following the hole pattern is only available in Bolt Conn, not in Pins. It looks like incomplete implementation. I guess it was assumed that following hole pattern on placing a pin is not frequently used. Could you go to Inventor Ideas and post an idea?

Many thanks!
