3D PDF Export fails

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I am having problems with the Export to PDF function. I load one of the Inventor sample models, blower.iam into Inventor 2017, and try to export to 3D PDF,  I get a list of errors and no PDF.  I am attaching the a screen shot of the version of Inventor I am using, a screen shot of the errors that were displayed and the zipped .iam file.

Regards,

eliminate items till you find what the problem file is ...

I know it's not the motor, frame,  the sheet metal parts for the housing error'd out when I tried them on their own in the assembly ...

I had an issue earlier today with a revolved' part.... I copied the part sketch to another ipt and it worked fine ...

Looks like your have errors in your Blower.IAM file along with an error showing on the ANSI27 item to start with. Eliminate the errors in your model first and then try publishing to 3d PDF.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Thanks for the suggestion. The assembly is an Autodesk sample assembly and appears to be missing some fasteners. I went through the assembly and suppressed all the unresolved references. But it still fails even after that. Do you know if there is there a command that will list all the unresolved references? I did it manually by looking at the product tree. I think that I may have missed an uresolved file.

I crashed with the sheetmetal flanges that are in the blower assembly model ... I tried it in 3 different templates

The frame, outlet, motor etc were all good ..at least for me

I also deleted all of the fasteners/content cent. items as well.

Many Thanks for all the great input, this is a good find.

SM - 002.ipt appears to be the problem part, Therefore a Defect has been Logged.

And there goes my excitement about 3D PDF's in 2017... Smiley Frustrated

Milan's part is about as simple as it could be and "FAIL"

I agree mcgyvr,

I was excited too, as some of our customers/competitors are now providing 3D PDFs.

I tried it on one of my assemblies first and it failed. So I thought I'd check it using some of Autodesk's samples. And of course these failed also.

So once again we get the stock answer:

Status:  This incident is currently being investigated for a possible cause and resolution

I understand that this is a new release, but there were already issues with old releases which haven't been resolved and now more items that are lauded in the press but don't actually work.

I was hopeing they would have this fixed before I loaded 2017, but I don't see any updates for 2017.  I opened an assembly and tried to export to 3D PDF.  It failed, but with a different message than what the OP posted. My message is "The parameter is incorrect".

Is there a more proper method of reporting these issues?

We just kicked the tires on this also, and hit an error first thing. Very disappointing. Smiley Frustrated

Hi Jeff.T,

Sure, can you provide an FTP site address?

Thanks!

(note we're currently doing a process of elimination on the assembly to see if

we can pin point the file that is the issue, first thing we took out was the weldments)

Edit:

Attached is one of the problem files, but there is still something with the assembly that we didn't identify. So the FTP site request is still requested.

Hello Curtis;

Would it be possible for you to ZIP the assembly and email to me?

Just a quick update, Jeff was able to produce the 3D PDF file from our dataset without issue using what I assume is an internal build, so I would guess that a hottfix or update is in the works, but I have no knowledge of an specifics.

I'm guessing this link will be updated when something is released:
