2D environment

Hi

I produce 2D plan of elevator design. I use AutoCAD but for each plan I have to design from beginning.

Is there any specific environment in Inventor to design easier?

You can see 2 different drawings in photos but there are more than 2 plans.

Hi @Anonymous

Is there ANY 3D on your files at all?

If the answer is no, then Inventor likely won't be a better software for you. AutoCAD would be.

If you have 3D and it's usually always the same with some minor changes. You could model it up in 3D making it a standard starting point with an associate 2D file.

Then when you need to make a new Elevator you just start with those templates... Updating - Changing what you need to.

Hi! I will leverage DWG Underlay workflow. In Inventor, start a new part -> Import -> pick the AutoCAD dwg file -> pick an origin plane (XY) and the origin to place the dwg geometry. After that, you can create a 2D sketch and use Project DWG Geometry (under Project) to project the dwg geometry to the sketch.

Another way is simply build it from scratch. You can open the dwg file in Inventor as a reference. You can measure or get the dimension. But, largely you create parts from scratch.

Many thanks!
