2018 Assembly Chamfer issues

Here we are again.

I know you will want files but this time can't give them.

Client has two assemblies with a common part. The part can be left or right as long as the chamfer is done at welding. Issue is after putting chamfer on and going into main assembly and hitting update he gets error only on 1 sub assembly he has the chamfer in.

This is the chamfer he put in, this is the LH and the RH has the same part with chamferThis is the chamfer he put in, this is the LH and the RH has the same part with chamfer

Notice no error

Top assembly after hitting update.

ErrorError

When going to fix it as in edit it dd not show me the error so I did not know what one I was to fix. So I went to suppress it to see what would happen.

This is the chamfer it says it can't find edgeThis is the chamfer it says it can't find edge

Now I know this will never be fixed for 2018 but these are the issues we are sick of. Client has done this over and over many times but 2018 says no way. I have removed and replaced it but still errors out on one assembly not the other.

My question is why are part updates not shown till you hit update? It never was this way and is this the reason 2018 has so many issues?

Or is this an option I have not seen yet?

Hi Jim,

Is this an assembly created from scratch in 2018 or a migrated one? Could you share the files with me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)?

Many thanks!

The part was migrated it is my flat bar file the rest is new from 2018.

As for share, it is kind of pointless is it not? seeing they are not going to fix anything in 2018.

What is worrying me is if migrating files are no longer usable is it wise to keep upgrading?

Starting to fear losing data more and more..

Hi Jim,

We never say we will not fix any defect for 2018. You are over-generalizing it. We are still publishing updates to 2018. However, not every fix in newer releases can be safely ported or technically feasible. But, we try the best we can. I guess this particular issue may not be unique to 2018. But, I would like to see the reproducible case and find the logical next step. Without the files, there isn't much I can do.

Many thanks!
