Unable to change install path when installing AutoCAD

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am trying to install AutoCad on my pc but it won't let me change the install path all of it is grayed out.

On left, it says that it is installed if it is installed where can I get a shortcut?

Previously I tried to install it on my external d: drive but it failed so I uninstalled it and tried again now without the d: drive connected but it still says that it wants to install it there. (I  have tried with d: drive connected and it still won't let me change the path as everything is grayed out)

I have tried searching on the internet for help but everyone else's problems are with storage capacity.

Is your OS on the 😧   Likely why, it needs to install on the OS drive.    You can extract it to the other drives ( and not the C:/Autodesk that it defaults) ...

My OS is on c: drive all the problem is in the pathing.

From what I understand when you make path it will say how much free space is on the drive on the right of text box, right now in the box it just shows d: and that there is 360gb free but the thing is 360gb is on my c : drive.

I would love to understand how can i change path as i cant even click in the text box, browse is locked just like install button.

You cant change anything after the fact.

it should be where you extracted it .. however by default it's in the C:/Autodesk folder

Went to c:/autodesk folder there are two autocad folders:

1. AutoCAD_2021_English_Win_64bit_dlm

2. ends with wi_en-us instead of _dlm

Noone of them contains a program file both only contain setup file that i can run. If I run them they show the same thing that is in picture.

Hmm at first i thought that it is a exe file so here it is:

1. I downloaded the 1.6gb file

2. I ran it and it extracted the autocad_2021_.... in the c:/autodesk folder

3. When AutoDesk AutoCad installer is open I click install - > select country - > problem picture

>>>...I ran it and it extracted the autocad_2021_.... in the c:/autodesk folder...<<<

Then you either have this here or you deleted it or you are looking in the wrong spot: do you have file extensions hidden? Or are you on a MAC?

This is exactly what is driving me crazy i am doing everything you are saying. I am on PC I, downloaded PC version, I clicked on the same setup and it asks me to install it, when I get to install part it doesn't let me change the path or install at all.

I understand it. My OS is on c: drive, I WANT TO install it on c: drive yet it shows d: by default I cant click in the window to change it to c: drive (which is my OS drive) i cant click browse to change it to c: drive.

d: drive is my external storage which is not event connected when I try to install program so there is no reason for it to show up.

I have tried to install it when its connected and when it is not result is the same.

Quick update apparently it doesn't install autocad itself only the App Manager, Apps plug-in and desktop app. How do I get AutoCad itself?

Perhaps you need to post a video of your entire installation process from start to finish, if taking your computer to a repair shop for tech support or consulting with an IT specialist in your office/area is not an option.
