Revit 2017.1 Update - Install Failed

I have been trying to install the Revit 2017.1 Update to address the resolution issues with schedules.

Every time I try to install it, I am getting an Install Failed. Does anyone know why?

I have attached my log file for reference.

Why does the Subject say "AutoCAD", but the body of the message is about "Revit"? Is this subject just a typo?

Yes, it was a typo.

I tried to search for similar posts before posting and it changed my subject.

Sorry about that.

No worries, I clicked on the subject thinking this was going to be about AutoCAD 🙂

Yeah, I've seen the "similar" thing do that. Thanks for the update.

If you haven't tried already, clear out your %temp% directory. %temp% = C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Temp

Once that's clean, disable any antivirus applications and try the update again.

If this information was helpful, please consider using the Accept Solution

Hello @jprather4,

Sorry for the frustration. This is a common issue, the suggestion is to conduct a Clean Uninstall & Reinstall the product from Autodesk Virtual Agent

I hope this answered your question or resolved the issue, if so please click Kudos or the "thumbs-up!"

Did my response help resolve the issue? Please "Accept As Solution" to help others in the community.

There was an Autodesk Revit 2017.0.3 Security Fix that results in a build number of 17.0.503.0 and when the Revit 2017.1.1 fix is run that build is not recognized and the result is a message that the update can't be installed because the program is missing.

There is not a way to remove Revit service packs nor the security fix so the only way to get Revit 2017.1.1 installed is to remove Revit, reinstall Revit and then install the Revit 2017.1.1 fix.

By using the Autodesk Uninstall Tool and choosing just to remove Revit 2017, then you can use the BDSP installer to reinstall Revit. After that is complete install the downloaded and install the Revit 2017.1.1 fix and then start Revit - it finds the existing license and all is well.

Why on earth is this security patch still available???  AutoDesk Desktop App just sent us back 2 steps for our deploys. Luckily we ran into the issue prior to deploying all 63 installation and now I just have to uninstall a third of them.

This is NOT acceptable!

I have had luck installing the Revit 2017.2 update; to get around uninstalling and re-installing Revit 2017.

The only place to get this install on the net is on "What Revit wants"

I've been having issues installing Revit 2017 update 2.2, where (as above) the Autodesk Desktop App downloads the update, but fails when installing.

I have found a simple solution to this:

Close all Autodesk applications > Go to Downloads folder on C: Drive > There will be a folder in there which the desktop app has created, with the update installer inside (a long code of numbers and digits) > Open this folder and double click to run the install file > It will ask to UNINSTALL the update first; do this > Then double click on the update installer again to re-install > Once complete, open Revit 2017 > The update should have now installed, and the version at the top of the application should read Revit 2017.2.

Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
