Revit 2016: hangs/freezes when saving and doing tasks

I have a new Alienware computer with windows 10. I've installed and reinstalled revit 2016 several times, there seem to be no issues during installation. A Project file opens fine but after a couple commands or when attempting to save Revit hangs/freezes. Others with similar set ups to me seem to be having similar issues. Please help!

I was just using revit on the laptop i always have. I mostly use MEP side. We run Revit 2016. I needed to edit a plumbing fixture schedule and whenever i edit the description for a certain element it just freezes. Ive been stuck for about 2 hours and it still isnt responding.

Do you have all your updates?
if you open your task manager can you see Revit moving?

Revit chaps, I'm trying something new and it seems to work.

When amending a model group, and before saving it. Make you you click outside of the model group, to untick any object. Then do right click and in the pop up top menu click cancel. This might finalise any flying option the model group might still be affected by.

Then save.

So good, so far.

It works for me!

All lovely "Revit Greyed out" sufferers. I think I've got the finest and ultimate solution when amending model groups.

It's as easy and stupid as grabbing the Edit Group menu, this might be flying over your screen and just move it up to the top ribbon.

See my snap shot below. This will do the job and we'll prevent Revit for getting lost when trying to save a model group.

It works finally fine on mine now. Let's spread the word.

I heard though that this bug has been corrected in R2017 for till then...

why are we finding out about service packs now? i had no idea there was even one service pack... why must i loose valuable work time to bugs and complain on a forum before finding out they have a fix? Maddening.

I understand that this ticket is old but I found out what my issue was.  I followed the direction to change resolution and update to the latest SP, but to no avail.  When I clicked to 'Save As', the program locked up or at least I thought it was.  I've had other programs do this in past experience.  When Revit was 'active', I pressed Alt then Space then m.  The keyboard shortcuts help move windows if you don't have a mouse.  This helped me because my 'Save As' window was off to the side and was not visible.  Once I was able to use my arrow keys to move it back to the proper window, I press my 'Enter' key and viola.  Back to normal.
