Problem installing Inventor 2021

Anonymous
Not applicable

Ive been trying to install inventor for a while now but every time something goes wrong. First I tryed to change the disk for instalation but it didnt let me do it, and I didnt have enough disk space on my C drive. So I maneged to free some space but erros kept occuring so i tryed to do a clean uninstall of every autodesk related folders. Even After that when I try installing Inventor I get to a point where the set up doesnt let me install the program and i dont know why. As you can see from the image it says it requires less space then i have available but still doesent let me install or change the install location.

Apreciate any help, thanks!ojihugcfx.PNG

The green check marks and the message in blue to the left indicate that those products are already installed.  You may have to try your complete uninstall again.  Also, you may try posting this in the Installation & Licensing Forum, where the experts in installation issues hang out.

Hi,

Did you remove something manually by deleting inventor.

Because removing a program only works if removed correctly, but not by deleting files!

Hello, @bradeneuropeArthur

I followed a youtube tutorial and did delete a lot of things manually, including some hidden folders.

Did you uninstall the program via the Control Panel and Add and Remove programs?

It seems that the program is not correctly uninstalled.

Could you upload a screenshot of the Control Panel and Add and Remove programs?

Hi,

Are you able to restore your system to a restore point before the removal of the software or a point where the system is clean?

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you tried running Inventor?  - The blue panes next to each component are indicating that they are already installed which would explain why you can't install them.

Hi,

No!

User system Restore and store your machine to an earlier point like yesterday or the day before!

Type/search System Restore and you will find out how it works.

Ok! So the Idea is to restore the system to a point where I didnt have the program?

That will also be ok.

But better is to where you had the program but before un-install.

Then you need to un-install it correctly

Try these steps for uninstalling the software, note you may need to use the microsoft tool mentioned at the end of the article: https://clintbrown.co.uk/2020/04/16/autodesk-uninstall-tool/

When you are ready to reinstall, follow these steps exactly: https://clintbrown.co.uk/2020/04/16/successfully-installing-your-autodesk-software/

Hi, @Anonymous

I tryed those steps and it was working but I found out I still dont have enough space in my C drive. Do you have any idea of how I can install Inventor on my D drive or something else?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, you can install it on your 😧 Drive, as long as "D" is not a removable drive. You should empty your temp folders on your C :drive

In the istaller, change the path to D:\
