I have a crispy new copy of AutoCAD LT97 that I have been carrying around for years. I want to install it now, and of course, PC hardware and operating systems have advanced some since the late '90's. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and the AutoCAD LT disk wants a 32 bit system.

Is there a way to override the requirement and go ahead and install it, then run it in compatibility mode for Windows 98?

Or better yet, will Autodesk upgrade this to a version that will run on a 64 bit OS?

You can buy newer full versions of LT anywhere, I like Amazon.com, but you are being silly if you think you qualify for an upgrade discount 🙂

Many older software install just fine for most users: for some, there is no easy cure or fix and no one seems to know why exactly.

This is an older thread and a lot has changed with Windows. If you are still trying to run older software you may want to try posting in the older AutoCAD forum boards as well.
