Mac Maya 2017 and mentalray issue

Hi everyone!

I'm currently studying and also training at a company which uses Maya. To get up to speed, I'm using the educational license for Maya 2017 on OS X El Capita, which I see no longer has mentalray. I have some scenes using mentalray shaders and I just can't get the plugin to load/autoload after downloading from nVidia.

After reading around the web, I read there's an update 1 or 2 for Mac Maya, which should fix the issue but I can't seem to find it on the downloads page - only for Windows.

If it's not available, can I uninstall Maya 2017, install 2015 and also have 2017 installed at the same time?

Many thanks for any help!

Here's the error message:

// Error: line 1: dlopen(/Applications/NVIDIA Corporation/mentalray-3.14-for-Maya-2017/plug-ins/Mayatomr.bundle, 1): Library not loaded: @executable_path/libsynColor.2017.0.69.dylib  Referenced from: /Applications/NVIDIA Corporation/mentalray-3.14-for-Maya-2017/plug-ins/Mayatomr.bundle  Reason: image not found (Mayatomr)

Hi natashal84!

Thank you for the kind welcome!

I was at that page earlier and only saw updates for Windows and older Mac updates for 2015 mentalray. I'm wondering if there might not be an update for the Mac yet?

Many thanks!

Hello @rezon71,

Have you checked with Nvidia to see what the system requirements are for installing the plug-in?

Thank you.

Aha! Thank you for that! I did check it but failed to notice the Cuda 8 part. The mac seems fine but will need to see about Cuda 8.

That's brill. Thank you so much!

Going to try it this weekend when I get the chance and here's hoping! If it doesn't work, I'll just install 2015 for this one model and still have 2017 at work. Thanks again and much appreciated.
