installation of Inventor 10 (2005) on Windows 7

I just upgraded my computer from an XP system to Windows 7 Pro and am trying to install my Inventor 10 (2005 Release) on it.  I thought I should be able to install and run in Windows 7 Pro with Compatability Mode.  When i install the DVD, I get the following error:  Microsoft WSE 2.0 Runtime Error: 1001. Then install is aborted.  It seems to me the program should atleast upload, even if it won't run??  Anyone still running XP era Inventor on Windows 7?  If so, how?  Thx,  Shaun

We support Inventor 2010 SP1 and later version running on Windows 7 officially, see our system requirement for Inventor products:

So suggest you to upgrade your Inventor.

Looks like this post got both Emily and my attention simulteneously, so I thought I will clarify. 🙂

If you are running on Windows 7, please install Inventor 2010 SP1 or later version

Refer - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15402497&linkID=9242018

If you are on Inventor 10, you need to be on Win XP or Win 2000 (32 bit).

Refer- http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS14034959

Thanks.

No this is not possible.  You may get it installed but most likely it will not function.  Why do you need a 13 yr old product?
