Getting an update notification for a version that doesn't exist.

Problem:

I'm constantly being prompted to install update "Inventor CAM 2022.3.1 Hot Fix" even though Inventor CAM 2022 is not installed on the computer.

History:

Previously I had Inventor Professional 2022 and Inventor CAM Ultimate 2022. I performed clean uninstalls of both products by following Autodesk articles provided by Autodesk Support. I verified the computer directory structure was free of anything Autodesk. I then rebooted and ran NirSoft RegScanner v2.65. Using insensitive search with keywords (autodesk, autocad, inventor, cam), RegScanner identified a dirty registry with several thousand leftover Autodesk registry keys. I deleted them, rebooted, and ran RegScanner again to verify the registry was clean of anything Autodesk.

With a completely Autodesk free computer I perform Autodesk Support approved clean installs of Inventor Professional 2023 and Inventor CAM Ultimate 2023. Updates to those products went normally.

A day later and the "CAM 2022.3.1 Hot Fix" appears. If I click 'Update' it obviously fails and correctly reports the required product is not installed. However, the update notification will not go away.

How do I make this unnecessary update notification go away?

Maybe it's simply a database sync problem on Autodesk's side?

Update: 05/10/22

Someone in the Facebook group Autodesk Inventor Community stated,

"It's not just restricted to Inventor CAM. I also had this happen with Autocad as well. I'm currently just ignoring the notification."

Hi -

There must still be something left over in the registry that it recognizes as Inventor CAM.

Have you scanned the entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall, to see if any of the entries there references Inventor CAM?

I updated my original post with more detail that when I ran RegScanner I did an insensitive search with keywords (autodesk, autocad, inventor, cam). As stated in the original post, the registry was free of anything Autodesk related prior to the install of the 2023 products.

If you specifically scanned that particular registry area, then I don't know what to tell you. As far as I'm aware, updates should only be shown for products that are found to be installed. I'll ask around to see if there's some other place where it might be looking.

FYI if you didn't see it in my updated post...

This morning someone in the Facebook group Autodesk Inventor Community stated,

I heard from the team that manages the Desktop App, and they are suggesting some additional places where it might be detecting products that need to be updated. Here's what they told me:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\UPI2\

Cached data is stored in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\SDS folder. which might need to be cleared.

Again, prior to installation of the 2023 products, using an insensitive case search using the keywords 'autodesk', 'autocad', 'inventor', and 'cam', there was nothing in the registry nor directory structure containing those keywords.

OK. Not sure what more I can suggest here. One thing: there was a suggest that perhaps using the Check Now command when right-clicking the Desktop App's icon in the taskbar could force it to refresh cached settings. I don't have much confidence that this will make a difference, but passing along the suggestion.

Have you put in a support case:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options

Or uninstalled Inventor and Cam .. did a registry cleaner and then reinstall?

When I chatted online with a support person they sent me here to the forum. So no, I have not opened a case because they did not present that to me as an option.

As to the uninstall & registry cleaner question, please reread carefully this entire thread and the answer is repeatedly yes I did.

Get a new person to help

They shouldn't be sending you to the forums, unless they are looking at something that isn't possible and then they are trying to get some other solution for you

Sorry ... just years of being on here .. sometimes you have to repeat things .. I've seen people say I'm fully up to date on everything. Get their ABOUT screen and they aren't ..

Or they have an old video card. I also second guess... my apologies

Maybe @TravisNave might have some idea's
