Does AutoCAD multiple user license work similar to Databases user sessions?

When an organization sign up for multiple user license, does it work something like databases user sessions where as and when required users access software and once they are done with it, session is closed.

So lets say Organization with 20 employees but at any given time only 5-10 are using AutoCAD, so can this organization sign up for maximum 10 user sessions or license and as and when required employees can use them in shared mode.

Or is it that such an organization will have to purchase 20 user licenses? Then isn't it taking away flexibility of web as far as users accessing software is concerned?

Thanking in advance for your help.

its 1 license per person if you have 20 employees & 10 need licenses at the same time you need to have at least 10 licenses available

once the user closes the software the license becomes free so another user can grab a license

fyi Autodesk is discontinuing the multi user license model

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting. 😊

There have been several changes to our subscriptions & licencing types, please feel free to review & become more familiar with them.

Transition to named user plans beginning May 7, 2020:

Autodesk is retiring plans based on serial numbers and launching new plans based on people. Our new plans will deliver you and your business many benefits now, and in the future, at a cost consistent with what you pay today.

For those customers on multi-user subscriptions, we will extend the availability of these plans to August 7, 2020 and delay their retirement to August 7, 2021. More info

Also review our, Terms of Use.

Sure, in case of no multi user license model, how will my kind of scenario work? We tend to use web based solutions in shared mode as we rarely know in advance how many simultaneous users will be using it at any given time.

thanks in advance.

i'm assuming your running a VDI setup

if so there are other threads on this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/subscription-changes/multiple-users-on-same-system/td-p/9359206

there is currently no good solution

you would have to buy a license for each user or someone has to manage user permissions when someone else requires a license that is not in use if you have licenses available
