Student license problems

Hi there,

I just downloaded AutoCAD 2018 onto my Windows 7 PC, to be used for a class at college.  The download and installation went without issue, but I've run into a licensing problem.

My brother took the same class two years ago and used AutoCAD 2016 on this same computer.  The software was never removed from the computer, and when I went to begin using my 2018 copy, AutoCAD wouldn't let me in because "Your trial has ended." (see image below)  I have a separate account from my brother, so I don't understand why this is.  I need to get started on assignments soon, so this is fairly time-sensitive.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks!

No, I didn't use that sequence.  I don't recall receiving a serial number or license number.  I'm fairly certain I chose the "Install Now" option.

Hi @cnormil0

Could you follow the instructions above to set up your student account? And you need to get a serial number from our Education Community to activate the software.

Thank you both for your help.

I don't think I was ever given a serial number in the initial setup, but I went back to the Education Community website as if I were going to download it again and was given my serial number.  I was able to input that into the program, and it let me in!  All seems to be working now!

Thanks again,

Christopher

For this issue you have to run your product in 30 day trial until resolved.   But you have to reach out to the educational support team for this https://www.autodesk.com/education/support/edu-contact-us-form

In addition I have heard this is only impact those who are located outside the US.

I've got a similar problem. I've been trying to get a student license for a month now but to no avail. I already contacted Autodesk support. They said they are still working on it. I hope they fix it soon because I really need Autocad and Inventor for my classes.

I have students in my engineering class that have done the completed the educational access process and have received an email saying that they have an educational license but when they log into Fusion it still says they are expired. I teach in a computer lab that already has Fusion loaded. Please help.

Hi @mcallistermark2023,

Have they requested Fusion from the Education portal?

Hi @Anonymous,

Which version of AutoCAD are you using?

What date does your educational access expire? https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview

Hallo,

i tried to install Inventor with student licence serveral times. but when i start Inventor i run in error: your licence are expired".

I am registered as student. After upload a picture from my student card i was verified quickly.

i was beginning with unistall all old/other Autodesk stuff.

I downloaded and installed the Version over the website as logged-in-student and also tried to install over the Autodesk Deskopt Software.

All ways end in "no licence errors" when start inventor.

I never could enter a seriel  number. i wouldn't know where to find such serial number.

thx in advance!

Hi @c.p.eskov,

Serial numbers are no longer used. Instead you just sign in with your Autodesk ID.

Make sure you have an Inventor license, by checking products and services at https://manage.autodesk.com/

You can get an Inventor license by running the download here: https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview

You can disregard the installer.

Thank you for your answer.

By checking https://manage.autodesk.com/ i saw only a licence for Revit.

as i wrote before i was checking https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview at first.

If i understand you correctly, to get a licence it could be enough to download the installer without running it?

Or have i to run the installer? What is with re still installed version? Do i need to remove the fresh but not running Inventor 2019 installation?

the procces is complicated or not very user-friendly.

i got the licence by clicking on download on https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview.

Now, https://manage.autodesk.com/home/ shows me the licence.

But either the still installed version of Inventor Pro 2019 (still no licence error) nor the downloaded installer.exe from https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview start.

i have to tell you that in the meanwhile of this complications, i start testing solid edge from siemens. it was easy to download its studentversion and get it running. It seems to be not bad and with good performance.
I think your procces let me be tempted to test those other software.

Actuelly, i still can't use Inventor Pro 2019

Best regards!

ok i see, that the installed version is 2019 (i was able to download it from your website as loged in user).

My licence seems to be for the 2022 version.

The new downloaded Inventor_Pro_2022_English_Win_64bit_Dlm_001_003.sfx from https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview

return error (some like missing files).

I will give it last try by installing from https://manage.autodesk.com/products/invprosa.

Hi @c.p.eskov,

You can get licenses from the portal dating back and including the 2019 version. Just make sure the license you have matches the install.

If you choose to use the browser download (multipart) you will need to disable your pop up blocker on browsers such as Chrome, you should get 3 parts.

If you want the 2019 Version, just select 2019 on the drop-down:

I agree that the process could be easier but it's what we have now.

Hi,

I am having the same issue. I've installed AutoCAD 2023 on my computer and it says my student license is valid until June 2023, yet after installation I open the software and it displays that my subscription is no longer valid. However I have renewed my license and it says I'm eligible.  I did not receive any serial number etc. as well even though I followed all the steps and have student eligibility.

Please let e know how to solve this issue.
