... hi @Anonymous

... this has been happening quite a bit

... take a look at this previous post

.... https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/revit-2020-stopped-working/td-p/8823125

…. or try this:

.... you need to have a valid license

.... or if you are in a TRIAL mode delete all and it will work again

  1. Uninstall all Autodesk related apps.
  2. (try uninstalling with REVO UNINSTALLER to delete all previous traces)
  3. Delete all files & folders :

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Autodesk

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Install Autodesk REVIT
  3. Activate the app
  4. Launch Autodesk REVIT

… done

There are a number of issues with licensing in 2020. If the above solution does not work, there are quite a few threads over in the Installation and Licensing forum. You might find additional information that doesn't require such a brute force solution over there.

I deleted all files and reinstalled the application and it works now. Is
thid a permanent fix? Or was the problem just due to a glitch in
instalation?

And then how do i convert an ArchiCad file to Revit 2020, because i see
only 2019 solutions

New method to correct issue, without the mass Autodesk product uninstall.
Uninstall 2020 products only normal uninstall is ok, file/folder hunting doesn't seem to be necessary. Install Autodesk Licensing Service 9.2.1.2399 per article below.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-licensing-service-updat...

Network Admin note: this package should proceed installation of Revit 2020 in SCCM, install scripting restart is not necessary. (This behavior was not seen in AutoCAD 2020 installation packages, or Civil 3D 2020, as part of AEC collection)

This solution worked for me by only uninstalling 2020 products.  Make sure to use the Uninstall Tool in the Autodesk folder in the Start menu to make sure you found all the 2020 products.  Initially I only used the Windows Control Panel to uninstall and was having issues getting the new Autodesk Licensing Service 9.2.2.2501 to install.  After uninstalling the two rogue programs I found in the Uninstall Tool in the Autodesk folder in the Start menu and rebooting the computer, the Licensing Service finally installed.  You can check to see if it installed by viewing the "Installed On" date for Autodesk License Service (x64) in the Programs area of the Control Panel.  Running Autodesk Licensing Service 9.2.2.2501 updated Autodesk License Service (x64) - 7.1.4 in the Control Panel.  Then I reinstalled the 2020 products and everything is activated now.

It would be nice if Autodesk would include the correct updated Licensing Service with the installation program, since I have spent hours trying to get this fixed.

Thanks for sharing your workflow but it wasn't necessary to uninstall your 2020 product line to address this..  😀

Also if you have the full extracted 2020 media you can copy the new 2020 licensing mechanism .EXE file into the  C:\Autodesk\<product folder>\x86\AdskLicensing folder.  That way it will install the new version and/or you can create a deployment from it.

What is your simpler solution?  The Licensing Service was already running per your post #4 above, so that wasn't the problem.  I went through Autodesk's 8 Option plan to fix the problem, but that didn't work either.  If you search for this problem on most forums, the solution is the nuclear option to uninstall everything, go file hunting to delete more files, and then reinstall.  ksullivan's scaled back process worked with installing the Licensing Service prior to installing 2020 products.  I was trying to clarify additional steps to be helpful.

The Autodesk Licensing Service 9.2.2.2501 wouldn't install until all the 2020 products were uninstalled.  I tried it several times.  It's hard to know to replace an install file if you don't know there will be a problem installing until after you've installed the program.

Perhaps you had an unique situation but I do support for a living and never once needed to uninstall 2020 product line or any other version to resolve this license manager message.  Yes each case requires different steps or plan of attack.  I fully understand you may have not know about the updated 2020 licensing mechanism but again no need to uninstall all 2020 version to get it installed.  I know it's a little late but here's a reference blog article https://synergiscadblog.com/2019/07/24/autodesk-licensing-mechanism/.

In the end uninstalling should be used as a last resort.  🙂  But you're back up and running and that's the goal.

This seems to happen very often in the 2020 version and every time I lose from one to three hours. Is there a hotfix for this already?

Your issue may be different as this usually happens at startup. Make sure that you are fully updated.

Mark Lancaster, your solution worked for me. Both the app and the licensing were disabled.

Thanks!

For me, the solution #1 (Flexnet service) from this page resolved the issue, none of my autodesk product would launch:

Hope this help

This problem has come back several times. No solution has stuck. However, I opened app services like I've done many times before to just check that Autodesk Desktop Licensing Services was running. It has always indicated that it's running. This is the first time that I tried right-clicking and restarting the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Services from the app services window and that seemed to do the trick. Revit booted up right after!

I feel like a genius...

This worked impeccably well for me. There was no need to reinstall any Autodesk 2020 products. 5 minute solution. Thanks!
