revit 2020 stopped working

Hi folks. I have been trying to re - install revit 2020 , I was working on it and suddenly the program stopped and now something is not allowing the process to continue. Take a look at the pictures: one is saying installation incomplete and simply stops.

The other one something about the license manager and stops the process as well. Please help me understand what do I have to do? Thank you.

Accepted solution

… hi @Anonymous

…. try this:

  1. Uninstall all Autodesk related apps.
  2. Delete all files & folders :

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Autodesk

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Install Autodesk REVIT
  3. Activate the app
  4. Launch Autodesk REVIT

… done

I have 20 users operating up to 3 versions because of projects in construction.

With this solution I will have to uninstall every single Autodesk program?

How has Autodesk not addressed this yet? I even held off on my deployment for several months hoping they would have issues like this resolved.

EXACTLY
How has it not been addressed?
when the "solution" ends with "...done" its all the more infuriating.

I followed your steps.

Your process did not fix the Revit 2020 error.

Now AutoCAD doesn't work.

Now Revit 2019 Doesn't work.

Now I get to reinstall all my Autodesk products.

Maybe consider changing Step 4 of your advice to "Reinstall all the Autodesk products you use" to give a more realistic description of your process? It just might same some people time and grief.

Cheers.

I'm sorry to hear you, but it worked for me. And the first instruction was to uninstall all products.

After that I haven't gotten any more issues.

  1. Uninstall all Autodesk related apps.

... done?

more like

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................(four autodesk releases later).......... done.

uninstalling ALL Autodesk software is not a viable, realistic, or economical solution.

Exactly! For my company we're talking thousands of dollars in production time lost. This is not a solution, this is an expensive workaround that Autodesk needs to address in a real way.

I can understand your pain, Revit 2020 has been awful in terms on licensing issues this year and interfering with the workflow of my projects. It all started with the Hotfix for everyone's first boot of 2020 opening up in Viewer Mode. Then it has been giving me all sorts of difficulties since up to this one. Not happy, and my firm lost a good bit of money this year because of Autodesk issues. Enough to start looking at other software.

Due you know if in your process I will have to reinstall the HOTFIX we has to during initial release due to Revit opening up in Viewer Mode?

I agree.  Uninstalling and reinstalling all Autodesk apps is not an acceptable solution.  Unless Autodesk wants to pay for our time to do that!  Autodesk needs to step up with a more reasonable solution... NOW!

Our office has seriously been looking at Vectorworks. very popular outside US. Originally a Mac program. Its half the cost and does everything Revit can do.

I guess you mean revit 2015-6-7-8-9-2020-2021. They are all Really painfull to troubleshoot. there are many flaw that are not fix. there are still old bugs from 2015 that are still not fixed in 2020. This is insane.
