NETWORK ERROR CANNOT DOWNLOAD CHECK CONNECTIONS AND TRY AGAIN.

I am trying to install the 2015 version of 3Ds Max for students, but when it gets to nearly the end it says "Network Error, cannot download. Check connections and try again." My internet connection is just fine as I can still browse. I have tried turning off my protection and firewall in fear that it may be blocking it yet no luck. Any idea what might be causing this?

Hi Jessica -- Thank you: it all worked and I was able to download it successfully!!

I do have another question: after all of the downloading last night, it asked me to register, I believe.  However, it wasn't working properly so it asked me to register a different way -- I had to fill out a lengthy form and then submit it.  That seemed to go through fine.

Am I still waiting for a confirmation that the registration was successful? When I launched Revit again this morning, a box popped up saying it was in "viewer status" (I've attached a screenshot of the box).  I just want to make sure that I'm working on the proper version and that it doesn't go away or somehow becomes inactive in the middle of a project somewhere down the road!

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm so glad to hear that you got the download squared away! For any licensing issues, please contact the Activation and Registration team:

1.    Visit http://knowledge.autodesk.com/contactus
2.    Select “Activation & Registration” or “License Management”
3.    Select appropriate subtopics from the pull-down menus
4.    Select “I Still Need Help”  if you need personal assistance

There you can chat with a live agent or submit an email if all agents are busy. Thank you!

Hi

I ran into a similar problem when I tried to install 3ds max 2015, as it was saying that a windows component cannot be installed and requires internet connection. I do not have any anti virus softwares, and had turned off my fire wall, also downloaded the software through visual agent, yet it still does not help.

Need a solution urgently.

Thank you very much

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Could you please follow these steps to make sure your firewall is completely disabled?

Are you trying to install the program in a company or school computer? If so, it would be a good idea to contact your IT department to disable additional security software.

I hope this helps!

update:

going through the setup log, it seems that .NET Framework Runtime 3.5 SP1 cannot be installed and resulted an error 1603, though I cannot possibly know why it was the case.

also, I had completely turned off my firewall, as well as following the steps provided to deal with error 1603. none of them helped.

and no, i was not installing the program on a public computer. I had previously (read: about two years ago) sucessufly installed 3dsmax 2013, though I uninstalled it to make space for 2015. Now I cannot install neither software for some reason.

I also seem to be getting this network error issue across Autodesk installers. I have disabled UAC, cleared cookies, whitelisted autodesk.com, completely turned off the firewall and antivirus (which I hate doing), and even re-logged back in to autodesk as one user suggested.

Does Autodesk have any idea what is causing these persistent issues? It seems that they have known about this since forever, but it never gets fixed...

And if this is KNOWN to be buggy, why do they push it as a "first option?"

Hi,

I have tried everything metioned this page with my 3Ds Max student license.

-Shut down all virus and firewalls

-Allowed all access to autodesk

-Deleted browser history cookies etc.

-Disabled UAC

-Restarted computer

-Deleted the downloaded files I was able to get

Other network is not on option

Then also tried all the download methods, there just the error message changes.

-Install now: option gives Communication Failure, tried all methods to fix it that was mentioned in other topic.

-Browser download: Loads the program but cannot download all parts and gets stuck in middle, I checked the forum about this also and tried the fixes. When it was downloading, it got stuck to message "uncompressing files failed".

-Download now: option gets me stuck at 5.57G of 5.81G downloaded with the error message of "network error, cannot download". The download is already almost ready and I did try all these methods here to get it work. Can't make it work.

I've battled with these problems now several days and I'm totally out of options. Sometimes I'm able to get to downloading but it fails to download several parts of program, unable to uncompress the files or network commnication failure. I've wasted now several days in studies since I canno't download the program. Please help with this.

Hi @Anonymous! Have you tried downloading from the Virtual Agent? Be sure to following the same precautions as you have in previous download attempts. Let me know how it goes! Thanks for hanging in there!

I also got the "NETWORK ERROR CANNOT DOWNLOAD" message. So I tried the browser download method and now it's asking me for a pin. It's no longer the student version

Smiley Mad

It was the free student version from http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/maya

and i seleced the browser download method...and it goes here after i downloaded and click on (in the chrome download tab):

Capture2.PNG

and it goes here:

Capture.PNG

How can I get the student version to download properly?

Here is the issue that I keep getting that prevents me from installing 3ds max. I've tried different versions but initially I need to get the 3ds max design 2016 version. I've tried different routers. I've tried resetting the one at home and internet connection works perfectly. I'm here at school right now and I've tried installing it here but it still fails. So it really is not the internet connection but something else, I don't know what else to do

Welcome to the community..

Showing a partial installation log file or the failed installation message is really no use to us.  We need to see the full installation log file to determine the root cause but I will bet its simply failing due to the method you're using.  So..

Download and install per:

1. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent and follow the download links to your product.
2. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
3. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
4. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
5. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
6. Follow the installation steps for your product

If you want the full recommended installation steps, click on the installation link in my signature.

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.  Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #.  Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.
