Maya 2018 installation error, Windows 10

Anonymous
Not applicable

I keep getting this error while trying to install Maya 2018 Student Edition on Windows 10: "1: 5 2: ERROR : Failed to install the anchor service. 3: 1001". I also get a similar error during the installation of Autodesk Licensing Manager: "1: 5 2: ERROR : Failed to install the anchor service. 3: 1007".

I had Maya 2018 installed before but one day it stoped lunching. I checked the forums and tried the clean uninstall and reinstall, switched off Windows Defender, Firewall and Windows UAC, found and repaired some issues with sfc /scannow, but nothing worked. Also I can't lunch the FLEXnet Licensing service, I get the "Access denied" error.

After several days of trying to fix the problem I decided to install the 2016 version of Maya, because on some forums people with a similar issue said it worked. But it also didn't install properly and after that I had problems uninstalling it.

I have no idea what else to do. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello @Anonymous,

This issue may be more of an operating systems issue, than an Autodesk software problem this error is not ours. You should do some digging into what has occurred recently on the computer.  Has a Windows update been applied recently or new software installation?

  • Please try to re-create the event/pull up the error again using Event Viewer (search by date & time) & locate the event error then search for it online this will help you determine the root cause
  • If you see many system errors contact Microsoft to see if they can provide further assistance
  • You can try system  Windows recovery options if you have not found the source of the problem

Keep us posted.
