Have you tried running as administrator?

Hi. Thanks for your interest.

YES, tried running as administrator. - still did not work.

Read online to do a clean uninstall, but when I tried to reinstall, Fusion360 quits with the attached error (Win error 740)

I have no idea how to fix / repair this error so I can resume using Fusion360. (NB. I am retired and trying to teach myself CAM.

Thanks

Regards

Hmm..

Administrator should bypass that, are you the only user of the PC and what is user account control set as that can interfere with high level programs. User account control can be found in control panel.

Yes, only user with administrator setting. One other unused user account with "user settings" See account controls attached.

Have a look at this article:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Win...

It covers what @leowarren34 already mentioned but gives a bit more detail.

In addition, the log file you posted seems to indicate you were streaming the install over the Internet - not sure if it's different for Fusion 360 but usually you can choose an alternative method of Browser Download in your Autodesk account. This downloads the installer to your PC which you can then run as administrator, maybe this will help.

Note: When you uninstall, make sure you're following the Clean Uninstall guidance from Autodesk: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/remove-products/clean-uninstall

Some further research suggests creating a new admin account with full access and UAC disabled, then install and run as administrator, it also suggests scanning the registry as any errors can cause problems. Thirdly the error log seems to be trying to remove a file that doesnt exist.

Hi.

Yes, separate login as administrator has worked. However as clean uninstall was done, I have lost my tool library.

Thanks

Atleast its progress, what tools are you missing?

Just my local tool library. Not a major.
I have only a few tool holders so have to keep changing anyway.
Of greater concern is why Fusion stopped working in the first place. My PC
is pretty much dedicated to my cam.
Thanks again
